This is one of the USB modems from Verizon, the usb730L Global modem. This is a USB modem that supports all frequencies above the CDMA, GSM, HSPA to 4G LTE networks. Its superior value may lie in the GPS feature that will spit out NMEA data for GPS programs.

Breaks periodically
Of the several problems that arise related to periodic disconnection, in my opinion there are several reasons besides defects in the product. First; signal quality (LTE). This is closely related to a particular location whose signal strength fluctuates. When the signal drops or even disappears (in seconds), the connection will automatically be disconnected, and immediately reconnect when the signal improves.
Second: From personal experience, USB power is not stable. This can happen to an old device, or a dirty USB plug and the point is that the laptop or PC is no longer supplying power properly. We know, devices like this (usb730L USB modem), require a large enough power and stable. Especially if the signal is weak, it will require more power.
