Different driver provided for different model for each carriers, such as: Galaxy S II for Sprint is using different model number compared to Verizon and other carrier version. Know your phone's model-number specificly
Model number of the phone could be different for each carrier although on the same flagsip. For example: Galaxy S II Verizon using model number SCH-xxx, Sprint using SPH-xxx, GSM-based model using SGH-xxx and so on. So, know your phone' model number specifically based oh the series and carriers.
Find the right links to download it
Specifically for most Samsung product, the download link is available at Samsung's official support page. Other brand may not like Samsung, but commonly they get support on the related-carrier's official page when its available. So the save way to download the driver is via official support pages.

Just look at 3 characters before number, SCH and SPH, commonly means CDMA-based, SGH for GSM-based, GT- for general (no carrier) GSM market
